Licensed Therapist DT 1 - Reno, NV (full-time)

Job Summary

Koinonia Family Services operates a Day Treatment Program #1 in Reno, NV, for children 6 to 14 who have been physically or sexually abused or neglected and exhibit primary symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (intern status acceptable), licensed in the State of Nevada, to join our cohesive, professional team working with the children in this program.  We can also consider Clinical Professional Counselors and Clinical Professional Counselor-Interns.

This program integrates cutting edge, evidence-based treatment modalities in the treatment of traumatized and sexually reactive children. These therapy strategies include, but are not limited to, Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Behavioral Management.

The successful candidate will have experience in and/or knowledge of the above treatment modalities as well as experience in working with children who have multiaxial diagnoses. This person will team well with others and be highly motivated for on-going professional development. Qualities of the successful candidate include compassion for children, strong professional competency, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to communicate well both verbally and in written form.

General Responsibilities
  • Provides therapy (evidence-based treatment modalities) to children 6 to 14 who have been physically or sexually abused or neglected and exhibit primary symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
  • Other duties will be discussed during the interview.

Educational Requirements
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in clinical psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or related behavioral science field is required. Equivalent education and experience can be considered.

Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required (or MFT intern status).
  • Clinical Professional Counselors and Clinical Professional Counselor-Interns.
  • Driver's license required.

Experience Requirements
  • Experience working with the following treatment modalities preferred: Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Behavioral Management.
  • Experience working with children who have multiaxial diagnoses preferred.
  • Experience working well with others and being a successful member of a team required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities in the treatment of traumatized and sexually reactive children.
  • Knowledge of child development, family systems, SED children, and cognitive/behavioral based team treatment.
  • Knowledge of psychotherapy practices and techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to quickly establish a rapport with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to practice successfully with clients (and others) from differing social, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of MS Word.
  • Knowledge of computers, e-mail and Internet.
  • Strong report writing abilities.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of Nevada regulations a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and a strong commitment to excellence.
